Time Again to Get Ready for Winter along the Rail Corridor – a Call for Volunteers!
Snow is not too far away! And once it comes, the rail corridor will transform, as it has for the past 10 years, into a beautiful ski and walking trail along the river.
But this only happens thanks to the efforts of volunteers who clear out obstructing weeds and brush before that snow flies. If you have free time in the morning on Saturday November 12th or 19th, and would enjoy some exercise, comradery, and being plied with goodies and coffee, see this call for volunteers for more information and to sign-up. 3rd Annual Celebration of the Chelsea Winter Community Trail
On Sunday, February 21st, approximately 300 parents, children, friends and neighbours came out to the Chelsea Ski and Snowshoe Challenge at the Third Annual Chelsea Winter Community Trail Celebration. For the 10th anniversary of the Winter Trail, the event added a pick up and drop off shuttle bus service to parking stops along the expanded 18 kilometres of freshly groomed trail. And there were “sweet stops” set up along the trail offering cups of hot chocolate and generous amounts of pastries donated by Les Fougères and Une Boulangerie dans un village to fuel the skiers, snowshoers and walkers on their journey.

Hi folks and happy New Year! 2016 is shaping up to be an eventful year and we are happy to kick off another season of the Community Winter Trail along the Chelsea railway corridor.
The winter trail along the railway corridor is 10 years old this year, and it’s grown into a well loved feature of winter recreation in Chelsea. This 16 km corridor connects 8 residential neighbourhoods, and will be extended an additional 2 km south this year, to chemin Loretta. This joint venture between Chelsea Trails and the Municipality of Chelsea requires both volunteer hours and financial support. Volunteers from Chelsea Trails do the brush cutting, install signage and do pre-season trail maintenance, while trail lovers and local businesses donate cash to support winter grooming and maintenance work.
