7 Historical Signs along the Railway Community Trail, January 7, 2015

In the fall of 2014, Chelsea Trails partnered with the Gatineau Valley Historical Society (GVHS) in developing and installing seven temporary interpretive signs along a section of the Chelsea Community Winter Trail from Gleneagle to Larrimac.

Each sign highlights a site of historical interest, such as the site of the former flag station in Kirk’s Ferry, with a photo from the GVHS Image Bank and explanatory text. For the past eight winters SCT has partnered with the municipality of Chelsea to provide a multi-purpose tracked snow surface along the currently unused railway tracks. At the end of the winter season for 2015, this project will be evaluated, and possibly extended and expanded for future years.  Let us know what you think!!

Thank you to Louise Schwartz and the Municipality of Chelsea!
