Anyone who knows Alain Piché knows he is passionate about the Winter Trail on the railway corridor and the Gatineau River. He works hard for the things he loves, and this year, his unstoppable volunteer efforts won him the 2015 Volunteer of the Year award. Alain is on the board of Sentiers Chelsea Trails and Friends of the Gatineau River.
It was one of seven awards handed out at this year’s annual Chelsea Volunteer Acknowledgement Gala held at the Meredith Centre on April 24. The mayor, councillors, municipal recreation officials, gathered with other community organizations and residents to honour the numerous volunteer hours invested in our municipality each year.
“Over the last 10 years, the Community Winter Trail project along the railway corridor has connected neighbours and made many friends,″ remarked Alain. ″We are now aiming to expand the concept to create a four-season linear park that will provide Chelsea a green, multi-functional trail along this precious corridor of municipal property.”
