Kyra Shaughnessy performed an intimate house concert last Sunday, October 18th, to 46 people at the home of Roberta Walker and Sandy Foote. It was a warm and folkcy concert that raised $1,200 in support of the winter trail. Special thank you to Eleanor Crowder who donated the concert, and Roberta and Sandy for their donation and home. And, of course, thanks to Kyra for her beautiful voice and music.

This October, Sentiers Chelsea Trails (SCT) will be partnering with the National Capital Commission (NCC) on a project to rehabilitate trails and to undertake habitat restoration between the village centre and the Chelsea Creek ravine. The work complements the new bridge connecting the Chelsea Picnic Grounds on Kingsmere Road to Old Chelsea Road and the adjacent cemetery (known as the Old Chelsea Protestant Burial Grounds). (more…)

Thirty people showed up last Saturday afternoon to hike the des Pommiers – Winnisic Trail.
Led and interpreted by Doug Taylor, who organized the trail building over three years, Doug was able to describe the process of the trail’s development, of bridge building and the hard work of carrying the materials onto the trail.
The hike started at the Route 105 trailhead, just north of Pine Road and followed the trail north through forest, field, over bridges, and wooden walkways, followed by a fox, down Winnisic road and finally returning along the railway and the beautiful Gatineau River.
Thank you to the dozens of volunteers who contributed over 450 hours of labourbuilding the trail and to the hikers for joining us on a sunny afternoon in June. Does it get much better?
