And once it comes, the rail corridor will transform, as it has for the past 10 years, into a beautiful ski and walking trail along the river. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight:400;\">But this only happens thanks to the efforts of volunteers who clear out obstructing weeds and brush before that snow flies. If you have free time in the morning on Saturday November 12<\/span><span style=\"font-weight:400;\">th<\/span><span style=\"font-weight:400;\"> or 19<\/span><span style=\"font-weight:400;\">th<\/span><span style=\"font-weight:400;\">, and would enjoy some exercise, comradery, and being plied with goodies and coffee, see this <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/forms\/d\/e\/1FAIpQLSdgJMkBjrLalQVvxth2TIehPwXsuQ9hSKf0RAAwksvAfgX26w\/viewform\">call for volunteers<\/a>\u00a0for more information and to sign-up. <\/span><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight:400;\">This year will also bring another installment of historical signage along the trail, this time focusing on \u201cNew Chelsea\u201d \u2013 the area around Mill St, including Chelsea\u2019s first schoolhouse and train station. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight:400;\">Sponsors play a key role in making all this happen. SCT is grateful for the generous donations from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.chelseapub.ca\/\">Chelsea Pub<\/a><\/span><span style=\"font-weight:400;\">, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gregchristies.com\/\">Greg Christie\u2019s Ski and Bike<\/a><\/span><span style=\"font-weight:400;\">, Lafleur de la Capitale<\/span><span style=\"font-weight:400;\">, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.physiosportchelsea.ca\/\">Physiosport Chelsea<\/a><\/span><span style=\"font-weight:400;\">, and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lenordik.com\/\">Nordik Spa<\/a><\/span><span style=\"font-weight:400;\">. Funds will be used for the signage and to offset a significant portion of the costs of winter grooming.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight:400;\">Many seniors in our community have written letters to SCT to tell us how the winter trail helps them to exercise in winter \u2013 the trail is remarkably flat and level once the snow is packed down, making it a safer option for a stroll than the narrow roads in nearby neighbourhoods. There have also been reports of people skiing to Freshmart for groceries.
